Enemy of the State

Enemy of the state can hardy be called a bad movie. It is
one of my personal favirotes. And not just because Will Smith
has a staring role in it. The fact that I run a conspiracy
newsletter probably has a connection too. But how much truth
is in there?
Accoring to some of the conspiry theorys including articles
in the Washington Post it could be happening to you at this
very soon:
"According to the Washington Post, the U.S. Dept. of
Justice wants the right to break into your home and (without
your knowledge) disable the security precautions on your computer.
Then it can track and trace everything you do. Right now,
the effort exists as draft legislation for a "Cyberspace
Electronic Security Act." In essence, it extends the
concept of hidden listening devices (a legal but rarely used
surveillance technique) to computers."
If these kinds of things could soon be happening legally,
what could be happening illegally? Despite the ideas of having
the right to disable security methods on your computer the
NSA's offical website offers information on computer security.
How much do they know about Windows XP. Some beleive they
even know the back door key which is alledigly writen into
Windows as a Microsoft safegaurd. According to TechWeb
Microsoft moved swiftly on Friday to deny allegations that
it included an NSA (U.S. National Security Agency) back door
into the Windows operating system.
"The report is inaccurate and unfounded. The key in
question is a Microsoft key. It is maintained and safeguarded
by Microsoft, and we have not shared this key with the NSA
or any other party," the company said in a statement.
The key, which works with the Microsoft Cryptographic API
(MS-CAPI) is labelled as "NSA key".
Whatever is happening in the country, the NSA seem to be
keeping quite about their activites according to Wired News
"WASHINGTON -- The spooks at the National Security Agency
are so publicity-shy they don't even like to be quoted."
